Toyota Offering 4Runner Discounts in Commemoration of 30th Anniversary
Discounts of $500-$1000 Depending on Trim Level Through Year End
The SUV market has changed a lot over the past 30 years, and many of the models that started out as rugged off-road models have morphed into soft, car-based crossovers. But not the Toyota 4Runner. Although it has certainly changed form over the years from essentially a short-bed pickup with a back seat and a camper shell to a legitimate four-door SUV, it is still a truck-based, body-on-frame SUV. That faithfulness of purpose has endeared it to off-road enthusiasts, and besides, if you want a suburban soccer-mom shuttle, Toyota has the Highlander. To commemorate 30 years of the 4Runner being on the market, Toyota is offering discounts ranging from $500 to $1000, depending on trim.
The SR5 models, in both two and four-wheel drive, and the Trail 4x4 model get a $500 discount. The SR5 Premium 4x2 and 4x4 models, and Trail 4x4 Premium trim get $750 off MSRP, and the Limited model, in both 4x2 and 4x4 configurations, gets $1000 off MSRP. Toyota representatives confirmed that the trim level discounts are good for the remainder of calendar year 2014.
The 4Runner last received a full redesign in 2010 and a styling refresh for the 2014 model year. All 2014 4Runner models are equipped with a 270-hp, 4.0-liter V-6 mated exclusively to a five-speed automatic transmission.
