2015 Lexus RX 350, RX 450h Get Minor Updates
Lexus has been busy prepping its 2015 lineup, and with that, the luxury brand has announced the updates for the 2015 Lexus RX. Updates are very minor, but that shouldn't be an issue for buyers considering the crossover is the automaker's perennial best-seller.
The RX 350 and 450h now come with a standard 7-inch Display Audio system that also doubles as a backup camera when the crossover is put into reverse. Additionally, new five-spoke 19-inch alloy wheels with a light gray finish are available for both, as are HID headlights and LED foglights. The remote touch interface knob that comes with the optional navigation system has also been updated in both models. As for the RX F Sport, a Cabernet leather-trimmed interior is now on the options list.
Everything underneath the hood remains the same. The sole powertrain in the RX 350 and RX F Sport continues to be a 3.5-liter V-6 that makes 270 hp and 249 lb-ft of torque. While the RX 350 gets a six-speed automatic, the F Sport gets an eight-speed automatic, which helps boost fuel economy up to 26 mpg on the highway compared to 24 mpg on the regular RX. The F Sport also gets sportier upgrades, including a sport-tuned suspension, paddle shifters, and aggressive exterior elements. For those concerned about fuel efficiency, the RX 450h is motivated by a 3.5-liter, Atkinson-cycle V-6 paired with two electric motors through an electrically variable transmission for a combined output of 295 hp. This allows the RX 450h to achieve an EPA-estimated 32/28 mpg city/highway (30/28 mpg with optional all-wheel drive).
All-wheel drive is available for all models, though it comes standard on the F Sport. Other standard features on all models include Bluetooth connectivity, a 9-speaker premium audio system, USB port, smart key, push-start button, and steering-wheel-mounted controls. Expect pricing details to be announced soon.
