2013 Ram 1500 Wins Four Wheeler's Pickup Truck of the Year
Fifth Victory for Ram in the Last 10 Years
Sometimes, you're just on a roll. That could be said for the 2013 Ram 1500. Fresh off its victory as our 2013 Truck of the Year, the Ram 1500 has now also picked up Four Wheeler magazine's Pickup Truck of the Year award. This year also marks the fifth victory for a Ram as Pickup Truck of the Year over the last 10 years, with the Ram 2500-based Power Wagon winning three times in 2005, 2010 and 2012, and the Ram 1500 TRX4 winning in 2006.
The 2013 model year represented a significant redesign for the Ram 1500, including the long-awaited addition of the 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 as the base engine, mated to a new eight-speed automatic. The Ram 1500 also features advanced technologies for the fullsize truck segment such as available air suspension, active grille shutters, and a stop-start system.
Four Wheeler takes pride in the rigorous testing it subjects contenders to for the award. The Pickup Truck of the Year testing takes place over five days and 1000 miles in varied conditions from congested urban stop-and-go driving to technical off-road trails. Vehicles are judged on the basis of performance, comfort, and design.
