2016-2017 Toyota Tundra Models Recalled for Bumper Bracket
Plastic Resin Brackets Will Be Replaced With Steel
Toyota is recalling approximately 73,000 Tundra pickups for a faulty resin bracket on rear step bumpers. In the event of an impact to the bumper corner, the bracket may be damaged without notice. If a person were to step on the corner, part of the bumper could break away, increasing the chance of accident or injury. For the fix, Toyota will replace the plastic resin brackets with steel brackets and replace the rear bumper tread covers as part of the fix.
Owners will be notified if their truck is affected via a mailed recall notice that will go out mid-February. Owners can also find out if their vehicle is affected by visiting toyota.com/recall and entering the vehicle’s 17-digit Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), checking the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s site at safercar.gov/vin, or calling Toyota Customer Service at 1-800-331-4331.
