Nissan Shows Rogue Trail Warrior Project Ahead of New York

Vehicle Follows in Tracks of Previous “Warrior” SUV Concepts

Apr 10, 2017
Nissan is at it again with its track-equipped SUV concepts. This time, it’s sand beige camo-wrapped Rogue with a track conversion ahead of the 2017 New York Auto Show. You may remember this isn’t the first time the Rogue has been similarly equipped. Nissan showed off a trio of track-equipped SUVs at the 2016 Chicago Auto Show, seasonally themed for the Midwestern city’s famously chilly winters. This time, the theme is more sandy than snowflakes with the Rogue Trail Warrior Project.

The Trail Warrior, like the previous track-equipped models, features Dominator tracks from American Track Truck, Inc. measuring 48 inches long, 30 inches high, and 15 inches wide. Aside from some minor modifications to allow the fitment of the tracks, the Rogue’s 170hp 2.5L I-4 engine and CVT transmission remain stock. Adding a measure of toughness to the Trail Warrior’s demeanor are a Warn winch, ARB Gear Basket, LED lights, tinted lights and fender flares.
The advantage of tracks is sand or snow is a substantially larger contact patch than tires, allowing for greater grip and traction on surfaces that would leave most vehicles scrambling for grip. The track systems are designed for use in snow and sand and are not designed for prolonged use on paved roads, so don’t expect to see this setup at your local Nissan dealer anytime soon.
