2017 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Starts Shipping
Hall Racing to Receive One of Early Models
Following years of anticipation after it was revealed as a concept at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show (and its subsequent spy shots), the Colorado ZR2 is now departing General Motors’ Wentzville, Missouri, plant in production form and starting to ship to dealers nationwide. Among one of the first customers slated to receive one is Hall Racing, which will modify and field a ZR2 to compete in the Best in the Desert race series. Hall Racing’s truck is a red crew cab V-6. The truck will be used as a development vehicle in the General Tire Vegas to Reno race August 18-19 and the VT Construction Tonopah 250 presented by Polaris October 19-22.
The demands these two events will put on the ZR2 will provide engineers with valuable feedback on the truck’s durability and suspension, as well as testing for prototype accessories being developed for the ZR2. The Colorado ZR2 is offered in extended as well as crew cab body styles and has a class-exclusive diesel option. The ZR2’s 2-inch suspension lift and 3.5-inch-wider track aid off-road stability and agility, enabled by unique Multimatic Dynamic Suspensions Spool Valve (DSSV) dampers. The ZR2 represents the first production application of Multimatic’s DSSV technology on a truck.
