Bollinger Drops First Official Photo of Interior

Interior of Electric Sport Utility Truck Simple, Basic

May 11, 2017
We’ve been following the developments at Bollinger Motors carefully over the last year and have discovered some delightful developments such as a portal axle drivetrain, enormous ground clearance, and refreshingly utilitarian packaging and styling. Today, we get our first look at where drivers of the future EV “sport utility truck” will be spending most of their time. Unlike many modern automotive interiors, where occupants are wowed with oversized touchscreens and flashy graphics, The Bollinger’s interior is decidedly minimalist. Gauges consist of a speedometer, tachometer, battery state of charge, and a multi-function text display to the left, which in the sample photo simply reads “Ready.”

There are a few other simple lights on the dash, presumably for turn signals and warning lights. Below that are simple pull-knobs for controlling the HVAC, wipers, headlights, and rear differential lock. In the middle is a minimalist audio controller with volume, scan and mode buttons, and a button that says “Scan/Aps” implying Bluetooth functionality with owners’ phones for audio streaming. The dash material appears to be a brushed aluminum plate, with a perforated bar running along the top edge of the dash. It’s unknown whether these are HVAC vents or simply a stylistic flourish.
Some elements of the design bring to mind the Hummer H1, with the wide-set front bucket seats and prominent center console. This was likely done for packaging considerations, as well as enabling the Bollinger’s epic ground clearance. While many of us on staff are ambivalent about the future being dominated by electric vehicles, if we have a few like the Bollinger, we think we could be very happy.
