Dealer-Installed Brembo Brake Kits Available for 2014+ GM Trucks, SUVs
Six-piston Tahoe RST system now available as accessory`
While 1/4-mile and 0–60 times get all the headlines, an equally if not more important aspect of vehicle performance is braking. Good braking performance is even more critical in trucks and SUVs, often carrying heavy loads, as well as being larger and heavier than most passenger cars on the road. One of the names most synonymous with performance braking systems is Brembo. The company is a major Tier-One OEM supplier, and its six-piston performance brake system is being offered as part of the RST package on the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban. The red calipers give an unmistakable high-performance look to the fullsize SUV. But if you own a 2014 or newer GM 1/2-ton fullsize truck or SUV, you can get the same system installed on your vehicle, or installed upon delivery as a GM-authorized dealer-installed upgrade.
Even better is that the big brake kit is offered with brand-specific packaging, with the calipers offered with Chevrolet, GMC, or Cadillac branding, respectively. The upgraded front rotors measure a massive 16.1 x 1.3 inches for a major increase in stopping power. How much of an increase? Brembo is claiming a significant 84 percent increase in surface area, a 31 percent reduction in pedal force, and a 12 percent reduction in pedal travel at maximum deceleration. The brakes require 20 or 22-inch wheels, and fit all GM factory and accessory wheels in that size range, except for the SEU option wheel. The retail price for the kit is $2,795, excluding installation, and is available at dealers now.
