A prototype of the 2019 Ram 1500 test mule in camouflage was spied once again, this time showing off its massive touch screen infotainment display and other interior details. We also get another veiled look at the truck’s new headlight design, along with exterior shots of two mules driving together.

Shot here by our photographer is a premium infotainment system and a more refined interior, which might be overdue based on current trends in the pickup truck market. With advanced systems like Ford’s Sync and Chevy’s MyLink, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) is expected to upgrade its interior and infotainment offerings, especially on popular top-tier models. Hopefully it isn’t just the display that’s improved and we see new software and hardware to bump processing speeds.

We suspect this test mule to be a Crew Cab with some extra bodywork between the cabin and the bed. Though the wheelbase on this test model appears longer, mostly due to the gap between the door and the bed, it’s more likely Ram is using some visual design trickery to lead us on.

Also photographed is that new headlight design we’ve seen before. It makes for a clean front fascia that resembles other FCA vehicles to maintain some consistency across FCA’s different brands. Making our way to the rear, it appears the new Ram might also have a split tailgate as an option, and might even be offered as standard equipment on more premium trim levels.

Our drivetrain speculations have remained unchanged; A 5.7L Hemi V-8 or a 3.6L Pentastar V-6, both mated to eight-speed automatic transmissions. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see a 3.0L turbodiesel V-6 engine, which was recently confirmed for the new Jeep Wrangler JL and was just recertified by CARB and the EPA. Expect the Pentastar to offer 325 hp and around 27 mpg highway, with the Hemi to offer more power to the tune of around 420 hp and earn 23 mpg highway.

Spy shots of the new Ram are becoming almost a regular occurrence, with each occasion bringing more information to the table as we await the truck’s anticipated reveal. While nothing has been confirmed by FCA, we anticipate the Ram’s newest truck will be revealed at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit next year.
