Chevrolet Reveals Centennial Special Edition Silverado and Colorado

State Fair of Texas Announcements Include Special Program for Owners of Older Trucks

Sep 28, 2017
Chevrolet is celebrating the 100th anniversary of its first pickup with two new trucks, the Silverado Centennial Special Edition and the Colorado Centennial Special Edition. Revealed today at the State Fair of Texas, the debut of the Centennial Special Edition marks the start of a 100-day celebration of Chevy’s truck heritage, culminating in a celebration on December 16 at the Texas Motor Speedway.

The 2018 Silverado Centennial Special Edition is based on the LTZ Z71 crew cab. It features unique Centennial Blue exterior paint that gives the truck a deep, lustrous shine, an effect compounded by its 22-inch painted wheels with chrome inserts. The special edition’s most obvious feature is its heritage bow-tie emblems, taking their design straight from Chevy trucks of the 1910s and 1920s. A spray-in bedliner and floor liners also get the heritage logo, and there’s a 100-year badge adorning each front door. The steering wheel gets a chrome bow-tie logo to give the interior a bit more visual pop.

The 2018 Colorado Centennial Special Edition follows the same formula as its bigger sibling, although the midsize pickup will be available in two body styles: Z71 crew cab and Z71 extended cab. As on the Silverado, the Colorado gets dipped in Centennial Blue, with heritage emblems front and rear and a 100-year door badge. The Colorado gets 18-inch painted wheels, a body color rear bumper and front grille, and chrome accents on the tow hooks, belt molding, mirror caps, and door handles.

The Silverado and Colorado aren’t the only trucks getting the Centennial treatment, as Chevy also built a customized 1967 C-10 pickup for the State Fair of Texas and SEMA Show. The vintage truck gets many of the same styling details, including Centennial Blue paint and heritage emblems.

Helping commemorate the 100th anniversary is the new Truck Legends program. Available to folks who own a Chevrolet pickup with more than 100,000 miles or who have purchased or leased more than one Chevy truck in their lifetime, Truck Legends began as a Texas-only program last year. It includes branded merchandise and occasional exclusive offers leveraging Chevy’s partnerships; those offers could include concert tickets, sold-out sporting events, and sneak peeks at future Chevy products.
