Nissan Reveals 2018 Armada Platinum Reserve at State Fair of Texas

Top-Dog Trim Level Adds Unique Styling, Improved Interior Materials

Sep 28, 2017
The Lone Star State is apparently the land of the luxury special edition, given this year's State Fair of Texas automotive debuts. First was the Ram Laramie Longhorn Southfork last night, then the Ford Super Duty Limited this morning, and now Nissan is getting in on the action with its latest fullsize SUV offering.
No one ever complained that the Nissan Armada’s impressive Platinum trim was too uncomfortable or proletarian, but that didn’t stop the company from giving the 2018 Armada a one-step-up model grade, the Platinum Reserve. Adding that second word to the trim level signifies a few things in Nissan parlance, which add up to a bit more style and substance for the company’s largest SUV.

Starting from the Platinum’s long list of standard features (including its new Intelligent Rear View Mirror), the 2018 Armada Platinum Reserve gets dark-finished chrome on the front grille, door handles, and sideview mirrors, along with unique dark chrome 20-inch wheels. The interior gets amped up with two-tone leather seats with unique stitching, Black Quartz metallic trim, and premium wood accents.

Nissan will ask a premium for the Armada Platinum Reserve’s unique interior and exterior styling details. Starting at $61,490 for the two-wheel-drive version or $64,590 for the four-wheeler, the Platinum Reserve will cost an additional $3,000 over its equivalent Platinum model. That seems like a bit of a steep price to pay for fancy leather and grey chrome exterior accents, although the fancy Armada’s slick open-pore wood trim is a stylish feature that gives it a distinctly upmarket vibe. Whether that feeling is worth 3 large we can’t say, but for the buyer who prioritizes modern style, the 2018 Armada Platinum Reserve might be worth a look.
