New Ingenium Engines for 2018 Land Rover Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque
2018 Land Rover Discovery and Range Rover Evoque Get Engine Upgrades
On Wednesday, Land Rover announced an Ingenium engine repower for their 2018 Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque. Both 2018 models will be available with a 2.0L I-4 Ingenium Si4 engine producing 237 hp or 286 hp. The 286hp Si4 is the most powerful engine ever offered on either model, and comes standard with a dynamic body kit emphasizing the “sport” in sport-utility vehicle. The new engine upgrade marks a significant boost in appeal for the Evoque, now competing with Audi, Porsche, and BMW for the top dog seat in the luxury compact SUV sector. Land Rover’s new clean gas engine technology also means better mileage and better performance for both vehicles.
The Ingenium powertrain family is produced at the billion-dollar Jaguar Land Rover Engine Manufacturing Center in Wolverhampton, U.K., alongside other Ingenium engines including the 380 hp supercharged V-6 for Jaguar's F-Pace SUV. The Ingenium clean gas performance motors are a part of a greater plan by Jaguar Land Rover to reduce carbon emissions while increasing performance for its vehicles. Since 2008, Jaguar Land Rover has doubled its team of powertrain engineers and has dedicated more time and energy to future powertrain solutions. They are hoping to deliver technology resulting in 25 percent fewer carbon emissions in the next four years.
Also new for 2018 the Discovery gets a dozen new color options, optional twelve way power seats and available upgraded 4G Wi-Fi connectivity. The Range Rover Evoque too gets 4G Wi-Fi, a new color palate, and new interior trim options.
