Diesel Brothers Going Biodiesel with Their Custom Ford F-550
Custom Truck to Be Revealed Next Week
DieselSellerz, the stars of the hit Discovery show Diesel Brothers, will feature biodiesel in their next custom build, slated to be revealed on February 27 at the 2018 Commodity Classic trade show in Anaheim, California.
The truck, a Ford F-550, reportedly uses its OEM Power Stroke drivetrain and fueling systems. Given the engine platform’s B20 biodiesel compatibility, making the truck run on biodiesel wasn’t part of the custom build’s to-do list, according to the National Biodiesel Board. Making its debut at the Commodity Classic, the DieselSellerz truck was built with the Minnesota Soybean Research and Promotion Council to highlight agriculture-based biofuel’s suitability as a commercial fuel.
The truck will appear in an upcoming episode of Diesel Brothers, tentatively scheduled for the spring. As part of the partnership with the National Biodiesel Board, stars of the show will reveal the truck at the organization’s booth at the Commodity Classic on Tuesday. On hand will be “Diesel Dave” Kiley, Dave "Heavy D" Sparks, Josh "Redbeard" Stuart, and Keaton "The Muscle" Hoskins. The event is open to the public, and members of certain agricultural associations get discounted entry.
Commercially available biodiesel blends can have a positive effect on both tailpipe emissions and truck performance, provided the diesel vehicle in question is rated for the fuel. Our informal B20 test revealed no significant differences with performance and fuel economy between petrodiesel and biodiesel, and the latter’s cleaner burns theoretically lead to fewer efficiency-sapping DPF regeneration cycles. Sounds like a win-win.
