2018 Dodge Durango GT Gets New Rallye Appearance Package
V-6 Model Gets SRT-Inspired Looks
The 2018 Dodge Durango GT is getting SRT-inspired styling thanks to the new Rallye Appearance Package. Giving the Pentastar-powered Durango a bit more stylistic bite will be a performance hood, performance front fascia, and LED foglights.
The package helps the Durango GT V-6 do a dead-ringer impression of the V-8–powered R/T and SRT. A Rallye-equipped GT will do away with Dodge’s signature crosshairs grille, opting instead for the gaping maw found in the company’s more performance-oriented products. And since the GT already comes standard with bold 20-inch alloy wheels, fender arch extensions, and ground effects, there’s little to differentiate the GT from its bolder, faster siblings, at least when it’s standing still.
Even rolling down the road, the GT with the Rallye Appearance Package should be able to back up its go-fast looks with some performance. While it’s not a 475hp monster like the SRT, the GT’s 3.6L Pentastar V-6 gets a respectable 295 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque, more than enough for most daily driving activities. The Rallye pack doesn’t boost those numbers at all, but the vented performance hood should help provide additional engine cooling for more reliable and consistent power in harsh situations. And Dodge loves to make hay about its best-in-class towing capacity: 6,200 pounds with the V-6 and towing equipment, leaving the Ford Explorer and Honda Pilot’s 5,000-pound max in the dust.
Available with either rear- or all-wheel drive, the Rallye Appearance Package can be had with seven colors: Vice White, White Knuckle, Octane Red, Redline Red, DB Black, Granite, and In-Violet. Whether its sporty appearance justifies the $1,495 package price is up to the consumers to decide, but they’ll have to choose quickly, as Dodge says the Rallye Appearance Package is a limited-time-only offering.
