Dodge has expanded its police vehicle lineup to include the perfect counterpart to its Charger Pursuit: the 2018 Dodge Durango Pursuit. Like the Charger Pursuit, which Dodge claims is the top-selling police sedan in the United States market, the Durango Pursuit will be powered by the notable 5.7L Hemi V-8 with Fuel Save Technology, offering 360 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. Backed by a quick-shifting eight-speed automatic transmission and two-speed transfer case with an active all-wheel-drive (AWD) system, there’s plenty of on-road propulsion and off-road prowess to track down the bad guy.

“Unofficial testing results at the Michigan State Police 2018 model-year vehicle evaluation event created such a stir among law enforcement agencies that we simply had to find a way to build this vehicle,” said FCA North America’s Head of Passenger Car Brands, Dodge//SRT, Chrysler and FIAT, Steve Beahm. “The Dodge Durango is already known as the Charger of SUVs, so it is only natural that the new Durango Pursuit complements the Charger Pursuit in police fleets across the country.”

The Durango Pursuit, naturally suited for the job thanks to 8.1 inches of ground clearance and the segment’s longest wheelbase of 119.8 inches, is further tailored to meet law enforcement’s needs thanks a plethora of standard features: larger brakes for top-notch control, 7,200 pounds of towing capability, under-vehicle spare tire mount to maximize interior cargo space, K-9 friendly Tri-Zone interior temperature control to keep policeman’s canine partner comfortable, spot lamp wiring prep package to streamline the addition of auxiliary lighting, higher output alternator at 220 amps, 800 cold cranking amp (CCA) battery, heavy-duty oil cooler and water pump, and power locking fuel filler door.

Law enforcement agencies can call (800) 999-3533 for more information. As for everyone else—it’s bittersweet but advisable to never encounter a police Durango Pursuit in the wild.
