2019 Ford Raptor: Trail Control VIDEO
Cruise Control for the Technical Trail
Many who have experienced the Ford Raptor find it well suited for the sand washes, ruts, whoops, and dirt for which it was arguably designed. The outdoors is its playground, dust is its byproduct, and speed in unhospitable environments is its glory. It’s no secret that further technological enhancements for the desert’s reigning king are in store for the 2019 Ford F-150 Raptor. For high speeds and hard hits, Fox’s Live Valve Technology will enable real-time Fox Racing Shox damping, improving handling and taking the sting out of extra hard hits by setting the dampers to full stiffness, for example. For low speed and technical terrain, Trail Control will act as a type of low-speed cruise control for off-road driving, helping the truck crawl over rough or steep terrain with minimal fuss by tailoring power, torque, and braking for each corner.
Ford has released more information on the new Trail Control feature, which can be used in all 4x4 modes from 1 mph up to 20 mph. It’s pretty straightforward: press the Trail Control button; use the SET button to set the speed (up to 20 mph); take your foot off the gas pedal, focus on steering, and go. It can even help in getting the vehicle unstuck, which, in addition to avoiding all the downsides of getting stuck, is an ego-saver.
