Toyota Teases 2020 Tacoma
Toyota says they have some big news to release. The problem is, we have to wait until the upcoming Chicago Auto Show. Toyota sent out a teaser photo of the new 2020 Tacoma saying, “Ta-coming soon.” The company has been tight-lipped about any of the specifications of the new truck.
Toyota posted a video to its Facebook page showing a person getting into what we assume is the new Tacoma and adjusting the power seats. This is significant because power seats have never been offered on the Tacoma model. Customers have been asking for them for years, and power seats are a feature Toyota’s competitors offer. Toyota may be following the trend of offering a more comfortable interior.
We can also tell from the released teaser photo that the headlights have been slightly changed. They appear to feature new LED inserts. The last major redesign of the Tacoma was in 2016.
The current Toyota Tacoma has a 2.7L engine. We haven’t heard whether Toyota has any plans to boost the engine capacity. The Chevrolet Colorado can be ordered with a 3.6L engine. We expect Toyota to keep the current cab configurations on the 2020 Tacoma model. Currently the truck comes with a double cab or access cab.
With Ford releasing the Ranger, Toyota is expected to have much competition in the midsize truck market. Toyota outsold the Chevrolet Colorado in 2018, selling 245,659 Tacomas after a $150 million investment to ramp up production of the truck.
