Valentine’s Day Gift: Ram Announces Warlock Special Edition for 2019 1500 Classic
Unique Package Hearkens Back to 1977 Dodge Warlock Pickup
Ram is giving the old-school 2019 1500 Classic some Valentine’s Day love in the form of an older-school throwback special edition, the Warlock. Available exclusively on the previous-generation 1500 Classic—which is currently sold alongside the all-new, Pickup Truck of the Year–winning Ram 1500—the Warlock actually incorporates a few features from the legacy truck’s old trim levels.
Most obviously, the Warlock’s exterior design gets updated courtesy of the R-A-M grille that once graced the nose of the previous-generation Ram 1500 Rebel. The Warlock also gets projector headlights with dark bezels, LED taillights, and LED foglights, along with black badging and unique hood decals. Black-finished 20-inch wheels come standard, as do powdercoated front and rear bumpers, a 1-inch suspension lift (likely the same as was used in the outgoing Ram 1500’s Harvest Edition), and heavy-duty rear shocks.
Inside, the Warlock comes standard with a Diesel Grey cloth bench seat, rear parking sensors, and a so-called Luxury Group that bundles a leather-wrapped steering wheel with auto-dimming rearview mirror, overhead console, 7-inch instrument cluster display, LED bed lighting, and power-folding sideview mirrors. Options for the Warlock include heated front bench or bucket seats, an 8.4-inch infotainment touchscreen with navigation, black steps, and a spray-in bedliner.
The Warlock takes its name from a version of the 1977 Dodge D100 pickup that started out as an auto show concept but went into production following strong positive responses from the public. According to the truck’s advertising literature, it received “fancy wheels and fat tires,” along with bucket seats and genuine oak sideboards in the bed. It received gold accent stripes as well, a feature that we wish had been incorporated into the new Warlock. Give that digitized press release above a look and revel in its 1970s glory, including commentary on how more and more women are finding trucks "easy to drive and manage in traffic."
The 2019 Warlock will be available in Quad Cab or crew cab body styles, with two- or four-wheel drive and either a 3.6L Pentastar V-6 or a 5.7L Hemi V-8. It will start at $37,040 with destination.
