Sneak-Peek Video: Rudy’s 2008 Ford F-250 Diesel Drag Race Truck
Behind-the-Scenes Coverage of ODSS & UCC Beast
Diesel Power recently had the opportunity to head to Rudy’s Diesel Performance in Burlington, North Carolina, to get a sneak-peek preview of the four-wheel-drive 2008 Ford F-250 diesel drag race truck that the shop is putting the finishing touches on. It’s a complete, major redo of the truck that Aaron Rudolf (“Rudy”) competed in the Ultimate Callout Challenge with (Salt Lake City and Indianapolis). It’s completely redone now as a full-on diesel drag truck that the team plans to race in one of the Pro classes of the Outlaw Diesel Super Series (ODSS) as well as this year’s UCC. The ODSS Rudy’s Diesel Season Opener is fast approaching at the end of April at Piedmont Raceway in Julian, North Carolina, with UCC right on its heels at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis, Indiana. That leaves just a few weeks for the guys to get the beast fully dialed.
The ’08 F-250 hardly identified with anything F-250, perhaps minus the 6.4L-based Power Stroke diesel powerplant, original cab, and a few feet of factory framerail under the cab. Otherwise, this thing is fully purpose-built, with four-link front and rear suspension, a Rossler TH400 automatic transmission with overdrive and a transbrake, 75mm and 98mm Precision turbochargers, three stages of nitrous oxide, a Motec ECM, fiberglass bedsides and doors, and of course much, much more.
Enjoy this first-look video, and stay tuned as it officially debuts and hits the track this season.
Remember when Aaron competed in the 2012 Diesel Power Challenge? This truck makes an appearance at the end of the video.
