2020 Ram Heavy Duty Offers Two Accessory Towing Cameras, Lane Keep Assist

Other Updates for 2020 Pickups Include New Drive-Assist Features and Colors

Sep 1, 2019
The 2020 Ram Heavy Duty will be updated with a few more features and amenities, including an accessory camera system that will help close the gap between the truck and its archrivals, the 2020 GMC Sierra HD and Chevrolet Silverado HD.
Both GMC and Chevy offer industry-leading camera systems in their biggest trucks, with the Sierra's Pro Grade Trailering suite boasting a segment-best 21 different camera views. Key to that feature set are accessory cameras that link to the GMC and can display a view of the road behind the trailer or a view of the trailer's interior. The 2020 Ram Heavy Duty will follow suit with two accessory cameras of its own, which can be mounted on the trailer with their views accessible from the truck's Uconnect infotainment display.

Further easing towing, the 2020 Ram 2500 and 3500 will also add available blind-spot monitoring with trailer coverage, lane keep assist with Adaptive Steering, and trailer tire pressure monitoring. And a bladder-busting 50-gallon fuel tank is now standard on all crew cab configurations with the 8-foot bed.

Other updates to the 2020 Heavy Duty are mostly cosmetic: two new colors (Hydro Blue and Olive Green); available black wheels for the Power Wagon; and a Night Edition package on the Laramie and Big Horn that adds black 20-inch wheels, blacked-out badging, and an all-black interior.

The Ram Heavy Duty's little brother is also getting a few new treats for 2020. In addition to the already-announced EcoDiesel powertrain, the 2020 Ram 1500 gets some minor package shuffling—a Night Edition on the Big Horn and Laramie largely echoes that of the Heavy Duty, except the 1500 Laramie gets 22-inch wheels.

The 2020 Ram 1500 Rebel will also get some attention in the way of a Black Appearance Group, bundling Diamond Black Crystal paint with 18-inch wheels, front spoiler, skid plate, badging, tow hooks, and exhaust, all coated in black. Black bezels for the LED headlamps complete the exterior transformation, and an all-black interior is standard, though those with a flair for the dramatic might prefer the optional black and Ruby Red upholstery. The off-road pickup also gets an available Rebel Safety Group: adaptive cruise control, forward collision mitigation, lane departure warning, and automatic high-beam headlights.

Ram didn't reveal exact pricing for any of these options, but expect the sticker to creep up by a few hundred bucks for 2020. The 2020 Ram Heavy Duty and 1500 should arrive in dealers within a few weeks.
