Shelby F-150 Super Snake Sport Slithers onto the Market with Up to 770 HP
Supercharged Pickup Hits 60 in 3.5 Seconds
The 2020 Shelby F-150 Super Snake Sport has been announced for limited production, giving the Ford tuner's truck lineup a range-topper. First seen in concept form at the 2019 SEMA Show, the Super Snake Sport adds to the slightly tamer F-150 Super Snake with standard four-wheel drive, more interior content, an aerodynamically enhanced exterior, and an optional supercharger.
The F-150 Super Snake Sport comes standard with a 395hp 5.0L V-8 taken straight from the standard Ford F-150. Shelby helps the engine breathe a little better (and louder) thanks to a Borla exhaust and "RAM AIR" hood, but neither of those add-ons give the Coyote V-8 any more peak power.
The same can't be said of the optional supercharger system. Featuring a Ford Racing Blue blower and intake manifold, performance air intake, performance heat exchanger, and billet throttle body, the supercharger kit boosts power all the way to 770, nearly double that of the standard model. The net result is a 0-60 time of just 3.45 seconds in Shelby's testing, nearly as fast as that of the Mustang GT500, with a 0-100 time of 8.3 seconds.
Helping keep that power under control is a standard Shelby suspension kit: front coilovers, adjustable upper control arms, rear leaf shackles, and an adjustable rear sway bar. Shelby by Baer brakes feature slotted front and rear rotors and six-piston front calipers. Shelby Wheel Co supplies the 22-inch aluminum wheels, wrapped in sticky Nitto NT 420 tires.
Cosmetic upgrades include a much larger front bumper for that street-performance look, as well as an integrated front splitter and that aforementioned RAM AIR hood. A new front grille treatment and functional, heat-extracting fender vents provide better cooling and airflow for the big engine. Shelby-signature double stripes run down the center of the truck (including the standard hard-shell tonneau, paired with fender hashes and lots of Shelby-logo badging. The truck also gets Katzkin leather seats with Suedezkin inserts and custom embroidery. You can call the Shelby F-150 Super Snake Sport lots of things, but subtle isn't one of them.
