2017 Ram 1500 Lone Star Silver Edition Adds Texas State Flair at the Texas State Fair
Texas-Only Special Edition Adds Special Styling to Brand’s Top-Selling Trim
Ram’s top-selling vehicle in Texas will be getting some added features, as evidenced by the 2017 Ram 1500 Lone Star Silver Edition. Debuting this weekend at the State Fair of Texas, the Lone Star Silver will greet Texas denizens with a Ram pickup designed just for them.
The existing 1500 Lone Star Edition is Ram’s bestseller in the state, and the company is expanding that vehicle’s budget-oriented content by adding “Silver” to its name. The Lone Star Silver Edition justifies its callsign by adding extra brightwork to the exterior and added content inside.
Outside, the most obvious changes are to the Ram’s schnoz, including a new chrome grille with the brand’s crosshairs, plus chrome “Wave Mesh” inserts in the grille’s four quadrants. Shiny belt moldings, chrome mirror caps, chrome side steps, chrome 20-inch wheels, and black front tow hooks round out the most obvious changes. A subtle “Lone Star Silver Edition” badge rests in the grille, featuring a cool design that recalls the badges worn by the Texas Rangers, the state’s famed law enforcement officials.
Inside, the Lone Star Silver Edition will be fit with new seats upholstered in either cloth or vinyl, with Canyon Brown/Light Frost Beige or Black/Diesel Gray color schemes. The special edition will be available on the Ram 1500 Crew Cab, with either two- or four-wheel drive in both short and medium bed lengths.
In addition to the Lone Star Silver, Ram also used the state fair to debut new options for the Limited and Laramie Longhorn pickups. Ram Limited trucks will now be available with black “RAM” tailgate lettering when optioned with Brilliant Black or Granite Crystal exterior paint. Furthermore, Laramie Longhorn models will receive a new bright-chrome grille with “RAM” lettering, similar to the unit used on the Ram Limited.
The new grille design looks like it’s gradually replacing the crosshairs, a move we’re a bit saddened by. In better news, the Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn gets some added standard features for 2017, including Keyless Go, SmartBeam intelligent headlamp dimmers, and rain-sensing windshield wipers.
We’ll be bringing you more news from the State Fair of Texas for the rest of the week. Stay tuned.
