Ford to Recall Some 2020-2021 F-Series Trucks

Safety concerns over unsecure windshields, incorrect weight data.

Feb 24, 2021

Windshield Not Secure

A heads up for Ford truck owners: The company is preparing to issue two recalls for problems concerning 2020 and 2021 F-Series pickups.
The first recall, #20C06, involves windshields that are not properly secured to the body. It affects 2021 Ford F-150s assembled in Dearborn, Michigan, between October 27, 2020, and February 3, 2021, as well as 2020-2021 Super Duty rigs produced in Louisville, Kentucky, from October 13, 2020 to January 23, 2021.

Ford says owners will be notified starting April 6, 2021. Repairs (removal and reinstalling the windshield per factory requirements) can only be performed at Ford dealership service departments, by factory-trained technicians.

Weight Limits Overstated

The second Ford recall is #21S06, for a limited number of 2020 Super Duty trucks with 6.7L Power Stroke diesel engines, built in Louisville, Kentucky, between May 13, 2019 and September 19, 2020.
The campaign involves incorrect payload-capacity values on the "Tire and Loading Information" label, and inaccurate accessory-reserve-capacity amounts on the "Safety Certification" label. Information regarding weight maximums on the Truck Camper Loading document is also incorrect.
In each case, the values are overstated. Loading rigs to or beyond the stated maximum values exceeds their GVWR or GAWR and can cause an accident.
Notifications will begin the week of March 22, 2021. Repairs (removal and replacement of all affected labels and documents) can only be performed at Ford dealership service departments, by factory-trained technicians.
Ford says it is not aware of any accidents or injuries involving either issue at this time.
