Built to Serve: 2020 Ram 1500 Special Edition

Part Two of Ram’s Salute to Our Armed Forces

Jun 11, 2020
Back in November 2019, Ram Trucks announced a line of special edition Ram 1500 pickups dedicated to the five branches of the United States Armed Forces. The Built to Serve Edition was launched on Veteran's Day in conjunction with the company's goal of providing a cumulative 1.3 million community volunteer hours from Ram Nation members before Veteran's Day 2020.
The first trucks to be offered honored the U.S. Army and were available in Gator Green or Diamond Black. Only 1,000 of each were produced. In conjunction with Flag Day, which lands on June 14, 2020, Ram is introducing the second in the run of five Built to Serve Edition trucks. This second wave of trucks will honor the U.S. Navy and be offered in a nautical-themed Ceramic Gray or Patriot Blue, both also limited to just 1,000 units.

These special Built to Serve Edition trucks are based on the Bighorn trim and upfit from that point. Aside from the unique exterior colors, Built to Serve Edition trucks also receive stylized interior accents that include a unique Built to Serve instrument cluster, Built to Serve embroidered seat panels, Velcro panels on the front seats for attaching patches, front seat-back panels covered with Pouch Attachment Ladder System/Modular Lightweight Load-bearing Equipment (PALS/MOLLE) webbing to attach additional equipment or pouches, and custom all-weather slush mats on the floors.
On the exterior, along with the unique paint color, Built to Serve Edition trucks are adorned with American flags and a Built to Serve decal on each rear quarter panel. Wheels are 20 inches, finished in Technical Gray, and unique to the Built to Serve Edition. Body-color wheel flares also accent the exterior. Each truck's front end receives a unique treatment consisting of an all-black grille and surround, black bumpers, and black-bezel premium lighting. Complementing the look are black badges, black wheel-to-wheel side steps, and dual 4-inch black exhaust tips.

Underneath the skin, each Built to Serve Edition is loaded with off-road goodness. All-terrain tires, an electronic locking rear differential, full skidplating (which includes front, steering, fuel, and transfer case guards), tow hooks, and heavy-duty shock absorbers ensure that this truck can go anywhere and return unscathed.
Next up will be Anvil and Billet Silver trucks honoring the Air Force, followed by Tank and Flame Red for the Marine Corps, and finally Spitfire and Bright White for the Coast Guard. Each new edition should arrive approximately three months after the previous one.
