Ford Now Offers 2021 Explorer in King Ranch Trim
New, highly refined SUV celebrates Blue Oval’s 20-year partnership with the famed Texas cattle ranch.
Since its introduction in 2001 (on the then-new F-150 SuperCrew), Ford's "King Ranch" trim package has been available exclusively on Blue Oval's F-Series pickup trucks, and Expedition SUV. Twenty-years later, and, based on customer feedback and market insights, those ranks are increased by one with Wednesday's announcement of Explorer now added to the King Ranch stable.
The 2021 Ford Explorer King Ranch edition introduces a rugged, premium appearance and is the most refined Explorer yet, featuring an interior with hand-stitching, rich mahogany-colored Del Rio leather-trimmed seats, real wood appliqu s, "Running W' logo, and meticulous attention to detail, craftsmanship and authenticity of the iconic Texas ranch, established in 1853 by Captain Richard King.
The 2021 Ford Explorer King Ranch interior is further highlighted by a center console that is crafted with a Mesa Del Rio leather armrest and King Ranch logo insert, along with leather door-trim rollovers, genuine Sapele wood instrument panel appliqu s, plus a leather-wrapped steering wheel with Norias stitching and a Sapele wood insert.
Also available in King Ranch edition Explorers are a Premium Technology Package featuring multi-contour seats with active motion massaging functionality, a 10.1-inch center-stack portrait touch screen with swipe and pinch-to-zoom capability as well as a 14-speaker sound system by Bang & Olufsen specially tuned to Explorer's interior.
On the outside, the 2021 Ford Explorer King Ranch is decked out with a unique Stone Gray-painted mesh grille insert, 20-inch aluminum wheels featuring the "Running W" center cap, liftgate scuff plate and quad chrome exhaust tips. Of course, signature King Ranch badging completes the exterior upgrades.
The new King Ranch edition is powered by Ford's 3.0L EcoBoost V-6 engine, producing 365 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque. Rear-, and four-wheel-drive configurations are offered, combined with a ten-speed automatic transmission with SelectShift capability. The latest King Ranch offering is the first application of rear-wheel drive in combination with the 3.0L EcoBoost powerplant. The SUV has a towing capability of up to 5,600 pounds.
Explorer King Ranch comes standard with Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist+, featuring Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go and Lane Centering, Evasive Steering Assist, a voice-activated touch screen navigation system with pinch-to-zoom capability, SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link and Speed Sign Recognition.
For 2021, the company is responding to customer demands with not only the King Ranch edition but also with the introduction of the XLT Sport Appearance Package, new interior trim finishes and new exterior colors, and several enhancements to Explorer's interior, including brighter paints, elevated finishes and higher-quality materials for a brightened, more premium ambience.
Pricing for the 2021 Ford Explorer King Ranch edition starts at $52,350 (MSRP) for rear-wheel-drive and $54,350 (MSRP) for four-wheel drive models, and the new SUV will be available in dealerships in the spring of 2021.
