AccuAir Closed Doors for Good Amid U.S. Shutdown
Heartfelt message shared on Instagram.
It was only a matter of time, but it appears that the current state of affairs has claimed its first business casualty from the custom truck world. In a message shared on Instagram, AccuAir stated that it's shutting down permanently, at least partially due to its doors being closed for the last two weeks with no end in sight.
The decision is clearly stated to have come from the investor(s), not from Reno and the crew that we see at all the shows and such. The message even goes so far as to say that any outstanding orders or payments will have to be dealt with in bankruptcy court. Whether this is truly a result of the pandemic or some other underlying problem that reared its head at the worst possible time remains to be seen. Comments following the message ranged from praise of AccuAir's product and innovation to several people asking about outstanding orders, and even a parts house claiming that closure will leave them holding a 100K bag.
After 18 years of AccuAir pushing the envelope with air suspension products, we're sad to see them go. We can guarantee we will see most or all of this crew will land on its feet, maybe even with a new air suspension business. In the meantime, please do everything you can to support the small and medium-sized business that we write about month after month. They need us right now. If you have the means, even buying a T-shirt helps. Use the isolation to order some parts online and install them in the garage! If you are shopping for air suspension product, check out Ridetech, AirLift, Flo, Slam Specialties, or Level Ride. The original email is below.
From AccuAir IG:
With very heavy hearts we must announce that AccuAir Suspension is permanently closed as of today. After 18 years of relentless blood, sweat, and tears, the COVID-19 pandemic has proven insurmountable for the business. The California closure that was expected to last only 2 weeks has now been extended through the end of April or possibly longer. Our dedicated team members and founders fought relentlessly, but a final decision from our investors forced this devastating outcome.
Words cannot express the gratitude that we have for the many customers that loyally supported AccuAir over the past 18 years and made it possible for us to create the most innovative products in the industry. Although the end is bitter, our role in making aftermarket air suspension grow from niche to mainstream was pretty sweet. The many families that our business provided for (both internal and external) and the many close relationships developed over all those years offers us some consolation that it wasn't "all for nothing."
For those of you that have an open order or pending RMA, you'll be contacted by the bankruptcy court to resolve all creditor claims. Unfortunately, all operations have been stopped and there is no staff to address your questions.
We know that many other companies are facing similar challenges (or will be soon) and many jobs have already been lost. We wish the very best to all of you during this unprecedented time.
