Climbing Aboard An MT875B Challenger
Last Friday we worked some ground with this MT875B Challenger...
It's a low-hour 2008 model that was recently added to a local farmers' fleet. But why was a used, '08 model Challenger chosen for this particular owners' farming operation? First and foremost: reliability. The big C18 (18.1L) Cat under the hood is free of emissions controls. The strategic goal was to buy a proven tractor that would be solid-reliable in the field and last nearly forever. The 570 hp rating doesn't hurt matters, either. At the time of its release, this MT875B was the most powerful tracked tractor on the market. We were able to plow at more than 7 mph (and in 11th gear) without the Challenger breaking a sweat.
