Here's a surefire way to get brand loyalists talking over the weekend...December 2013's truck sales totals...

To some, it's the same old, same old... Ford in the lead, Chevy a good distance behind but in a solid Second Place, and Ram in Third. However, what jumps out at us is that Ram's year over year sales numbers are up 21.2 percent (see chart below). With half-ton truck sales lumped in with the heavier duty pickups--and knowing a higher number (proportionally) of Ram 2500 and larger trucks are sold with the Cummins option under the hood as opposed to a gas job--we like seeing Ram sales on the uptick. What will 2014 hold for the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel, and will it push the truck maker even closer to Chevy's numbers? We'll just have to wait and see.

Stay tuned for complete 2013 sales numbers coming soon...
