Ford Appoints Kumar Galhotra as President of Ford North America
Galhotra Succeeds Raj Nair After His Departure Yesterday
Ford will appoint Kumar Galhotra as the new president of Ford North America, the company announced today. Galhotra, who has led the Lincoln Motor Company since September 2014, will assume his new role March 1.
The decision follows the departure of former Ford North America President Raj Nair, who left the company yesterday following an internal investigation that found evidence of inappropriate behavior by Nair.
Galhotra has been with Ford for 29 years, leading several projects that include introducing the Ranger into South American markets in 1998. He was also the chief engineer for Ford’s first small crossovers: the Escape, Mercury Mariner, and Mazda Tribute.
Replacing Galhotra as head of Lincoln will be Joy Falotico, who will also take on a role as Ford’s chief marketing officer. Falotico has been with Ford since 1989, starting her career with Ford Motor Credit Company and working in various executive, marketing, and sales positions.
Ford President and CEO Jim Hackett expressed confidence in the new executive team, saying that Ford is “very fortunate to have an experienced and committed executive team in place driving every day to significantly strengthen our business while building toward our vision of becoming the world’s most trusted mobility company, designing smart vehicles for a smart world.”
This is the first major management change Hackett has overseen since taking the role of CEO and president of Ford in May 2017.
