Ford Sets Date To Reveal Ranger Raptor February 7
The Ranger Raptor is going to blow your socks off, too bad it's not available in the US yet.
Ford has set a date to reveal their new and long-awaited Ranger Raptor. On February 7th, 2018 the Ranger Raptor will debut in Bangkok, Thailand. We’re curious what power plant the new Ranger rig will feature; logic tells us a 2.7L EcoBoost V-6 producing at least 325 hp and 375 lb-ft is on its way (the same engine in the non-Raptor F-150). However, we’d love to see the 450hp 3.5L EcoBoost V-6 migrate to the Ranger. Can you imagine that type of power in a small truck? It would blow the ZR2 out of the water.
Like the ZR2, it seems that the Ranger Raptor will at least come with the option of a diesel motor. Our photographer who shot spy photos of the Ranger Raptor back in July said the engine in the truck they saw sounded like the Power Stroke 3.2L turbodiesel I-5 found in the Ford Transit van. Putting out 185 hp and 350 lb-ft, the small Power Stroke engine would give the Ranger a credible alternative to the Colorado ZR2’s available 2.8L Duramax I-4 (rated at 181 hp and 369 lb-ft). Like it’s brother the F-150 Raptor, the Ranger Raptor will feature seventeen inch wheels with 285/70R17 BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 tires.
We don’t know a lot about the Ranger Raptor, and we’re not even sure if it’ll carry the Raptor name. What we do know comes from photos we’ve seen and the video Ford released earlier this year. While we’re expecting the new Ranger in 2019, the Ranger Raptor most likely will hit the US market by 2020.
