The Ponderosa: Rtech Fabrications Builds 1966 Chevrolet Crew Cab Dualie

Rtech Fabrications just completed this 1966 Chevrolet Crew Cab dualie conversion, and it looks awesome. Named "The Ponderosa," Rtech Fabrications started with a 1972 Chevrolet C30 chassis. The company is known for adding custom never-built Crew Cabs to 1960s-model Chevrolet trucks. Rtech kept the same body lines and classic look when stretching "The Ponderosa." The truck now has an additional back seat, four doors, and plenty of legroom.

Custom mounts were fabricated for the suspension and additional crossmembers were added to support the powertrain components. Every detail on the truck was attended to. The valve covers were powdercoated a custom green to contrast the light green paintjob on the truck. The truck is 20 feet long and 8 feet tall. It features 5165 series Bilstein shocks as part of the suspension package. Skyjacker leaf springs help complete the lift and stance of the truck. "The Ponderosa" sits on 37-inch Nitto Trail Grapplers mounted on 20-inch American Force wheels.

Powering "The Ponderosa" is a 500hp Ram Cummins diesel with 1,300 pound-feet of torque. The truck has a Dana 60 axle up front and Dana 70 in the rear. Rtech custom fabricated a 60-gallon fuel tank for the truck to get additional range. The tank was custom-contoured to clear the suspension components. Plenty of diesel modifications are also found under the hood including an upgraded turbocharger, custom intercooler, Stage 3 injectors, and a K&N intake.

Occupants of the truck have easy access to the cab courtesy of AMP Research Power steps, which retract when the doors are closed. To match the bumpers, the power steps were painted silver.
