Today is going to be a day of beatdowns for our 17-year-old, stock bottom end, 185,000-mile, 500+ hp '97 7.3L Power Stroke...

First, we're heading to the dyno and going after 550-rwhp. We have a hunch that the new fuel system (mentioned yesterday) could push us to the 575 hp mark, but we don't want to be too optimistic going into battle with the tough, load cell SuperFlow dyno at Randall's Performance.

Then, we're ditching the tailgate, bed liner, all of our tools, burning through some fuel, and going to the Friday night test-and-tune at our local dragstrip. Once there, we'll be pulling out all the stops, and will be doing everything we can to get the old-school Ford into the 7's in the eighth-mile.

Does the old-body-style Ford have what it takes to survive the all-day beatdown? Or will we have to call a tow truck? Look for results soon...
