After a lot of phone calls and emails, I finally was able to get some photos of John Carey's Detroit Diesel-powered dragster that ran 7 second quarter mile runs back in the mid 80s!

The dragster ran a De-stroked 6v53 (for more rpm capability) along with itty-bitty twin turbos and nitrous, and it eventually made as much as 1,800 horsepower on an engine dyno. For a 270cid engine, that's not bad. Look for more info on Carey's time capsule in an upcoming issue of Diesel Power.

Thanks to Richard VanDyke for the photos!
