What’s Next, a Drive-Through Car and Truck Show? Actually, Yes

West Coast Customs holds Cruis’n the Park drive-thru show inside Six Flags Magic Mountain amusement park.

Mar 9, 2021
Update 3/9/21: Check out this photo gallery of most of the custom lifted and lowered trucks, Jeeps, and other creations from the second weekend of Cruis'n the Park at Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, California. The drive-through show concludes this weekend for a total of three weekends.

The concept of a drive-through car show was so cool that we even entered Truckin's 2013 Ford F-150 project vehicle, a show truck from a bunch of years ago, as a display vehicle.
Original story: The canceling of beloved auto events and shows nationwide has cut car and truck enthusiasts deep—very deep. Heck, even SEMA 2020 (the live version, at least) was canceled; a worst-case scenario that seemed quite literally unfathomable until SEMA week came and went and the Las Vegas Convention Center remained empty. The fallout of canceled events has a surprising bright side, however. Promoters are coming up with creative ways to hold car and truck events and shows safely, and in ways that would have never come to fruition without the strange circumstances that pandemic life has brought.

Introducing the West Coast Customs Cruis'n the Park Car Show, claimed to be the world's first drive-through auto show. It's not a traditional cruise like the Quarantine Cruise series, where custom vehicles parade a public street cruise route and congregate at the finish. And it's not a cruise route set up within the grounds of a traditional car show. In the case of Cruis'n the Park, the custom vehicles stay stationary while the show attendees cruise a route lined with custom vehicles and see the more than 100 show cars from the comfort of their own vehicles.

The really cool part is the drive-through cruise takes place inside of the Six Flags Magic Mountain amusement park. Very few people get to drive inside of theme parks on walkways reserved for park patrons—until now. The custom vehicles—ranging from lowriders to muscle cars to hot rods to mini trucks to bikes—will be highlighted in various sections of the park and accompanied by themed music, lighting, and entertainment; it's more like vehicle art displays than traditional rows of show cars.

Accessible through a free app, the 30-minute cruise will be narrated by Ryan Friedlinghaus, chief executive officer of West Coast Customs. What's the connection between Magic Mountain and West Coast Customs? It's simple, really: A brand-new themed ride called West Coast Racers opened at the park in the beginning of 2020. The steel roller coaster features dueling coasters on side-by-side tracks and has a pit stop designed and produced by West Coast Customs.
Custom vehicles on display February 26-28, 2021 :
Cruis'n the Park runs Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from February 26-March 14 (that's three weekends) with limited reservations sold per spectator vehicle.
