Ford Expedition EL
What It Is
This is Fordis softer and gentler (and almost as big) Excursion. A longer-wheelbase version goes head to head with the Suburban.
What You Should Know
The EL uses the same platform as the short-wheelbase Expedition but offers 28 more cubic feet of cargo capacity. This is the biggest SUV in the U.S. with an independent rear suspension. And that allows for Fordis push-button, hide-in-the-floor third-row seat. The 300-horsepower, 5.4-liter V-8 seems a bit small.
Bottom Line
The six-speed helps a lot, but It's the interior functionality that makes this the segment leader.
