The Nissan dealership I take the NV to for servicing is two towns away. Why so far? Well, that is the closest dealer certified to do work on the NV. Makes things a little inconvenient but at least it's on my way to work so I can usually just stop on my way in the mornings. Plus they wash it, which is no easy task and generally requires driving around to find a truck wash.
We've crossed the 20,000-mile mark on our long-term NV and what better time for a recap of maintenance and repairs, of which there are many.
Being the monstrosity that it is, a few bumps and bruises are to be expected and the first carnage came just two weeks after we took delivery. Rumbling down PCH in Santa Monica, one of my Colleagues that shall remain nameless misjudged the width and took out the passenger side mirror. Not a cheap fix at $138.60 + tax as the mirror and casing had to be replaced.
Next, while on a shoot, one of our web kids managed to get the NV into a parking garage; getting it out proved a more difficult. The exit to the garage was a bit lower than the entrance catching the roof right in front of the third taillight, breaking the red plastic cover. No total for the bodywork as we figured there was sure to be more to come and it would be easiest to wait till the end of the loan to get them all fixed at once. A replacement light unit ran $45.57 + tax and I was able to easily change it out myself.
Most recently, the driver's side mirror got its turn. While out on a shoot covering a 24-hour motorcycle race for our You Tube Channel, our trusty workhorse returned with a cracked mirror. The best explanation given by the Video Producer on the shoot was that someone punched it. The recent nature of this damage means it has yet to be fixed but I'm hoping we can just slap on a new mirror for $67.52 without having to replace the whole unit.
As with many new cars, there was a minor recall for the Oil Cooler Stud and was easily replaced during an oil change. As for routine maintenance, the oil has been changed three times for a total of $104.45 + tax plus a 15,000 mile service which included a new cabin filter, tire rotation, oil change and multi-point inspection for $200.68 + tax
