Know what sounds like "Tom Waits gargling Bailey's Irish Cream"? Yep, the Q7. According to editor-in-chief MacKenzie, the "delicious burble from the Q's silky 4.2-liter V-8" is especially reminiscent of the old-school rocker blowing bubbles through some sweet liqueur. No doubt, mash the throttle to the floor and the Q's 350 direct-injected horses will always go down smooth. Online editor Floyd concurs, adding that he's "heard plenty of the Waits/Irish Cream note when busting onto the freeway or ripping away from a light."
Floyd also has a strong appreciation for the Q's S Line package and V-8, both of which "almost give the Q7 the feeling that it's a performance Audi-almost." But with the S Line come low-profile tires and firm, sport seats, a combo that leaves "the ride slightly arthritic," per MacKenzie.

Long-Term Update: 2007 Audi Q7 4.2
"I've just done 2000 miles in four days through mountains, deserts, rain, sunshine, snow, and heavy winds; and overall, the Q is comfortable and especially stable, even at high speeds," notes art director Andy Foster. |
