"I really like the blind-spot warning system on the Q7," claims Kiino. "When another car is positioned in either the right or left blind spot, a light on the inner part of the respective sideview-mirror housing lights up, warning you there's a car sitting there." And if you don't notice the light and attempt to change lanes? "Miss the amber illumination and then try to squeeze in front of that Freightliner to your side, and the light will flash at you three times, alerting you that perhaps you should stay in your lane." While the system helps prevent playing blind-spot bumper cars, it also minimizes excessive head-turning: "Now when I go to change lanes in the Q, I first look to see if the light is on; if not, I know it's likely clear, making an unsafe turn-my-head-to-look-out-the-rear-side-window maneuver unnecessary." | 2007 AUDI Q7 | | Months/miles in service | 13/21,359 | | Avg econ/CO2 | 14.0 mpg/1.39 lb/mi | | Unresolved problems | None | | Maintenance cost | $0 | | Normal-wear cost | $0 |
(Past Updates) Long-Term Update: 2007 Audi Q7 4.2
"I've just done 2000 miles in four days through mountains, deserts, rain, sunshine, snow, and heavy winds; and overall, the Q is comfortable and especially stable, even at high speeds," notes art director Andy Foster. |
Long-Term Update: 2007 Audi Q7
On a trip to Lake Arrowhead, executive editor Stone signed out the Q7 and came away "impressed at how it handles the mountain passes and how it manages to fly by vehicles half its size." |

While it would make sense for cars, trucks, and SUVs to be painted in simple colors like "red" and "blue," that's never the case. Automakers use their own brand-specific paint mixes, and each one gets its own name.... more
