"While the seats were cooling my backside, I noted the F-150's overall quietness," notes associate Web producer Nate Martinez. "A majority of exterior noise and tire drone is suppressed in the F-150, unlike in my brother's Chevy Silverado, which jounces over bumps and has numerous squeaks and squawks." Additional pros? "The Ford rides abnormally smooth for a full-size rig, and the interior storage space particularly the cavernous center armrest bin is respectable, as are the wood trim and handsome seat stitching. The many cubbies, cupholders, and bins contribute to the cabin's utility and comfort, while the Sony stereo provides loud and clear road-trip entertainment." At 7500 miles, the F-150 went in for its first service, a $48.21 oil change, inspection, and tire rotation.

Months/miles in service 3/8184
Avg econ/CO2 15.0 mpg/1.29 lb/mile
Unresolved problems None
Maintenance cost $48.21 (oil change/inspection/rotate tires)
Normal-wear cost $0

Sounds good so far, fellas. Keep up the good work. My 13 year old F-150 is still pretty quiet, while a buddy's Suburban has a million rattles, etc. I can't wait for the next installment.

Editors, Just out of curiosity, could you glance at the TREAD ACT sticker on the door pillar to tell us what that specific truck is rated to carry in payload?

Thanks.

Great question... unfortunately the truck in on the road today, but as soon as we get it back, I'll grab that info for you!

Any plans to do some "real" towing soon?  I would like to know how it handles a travel trailer, especially on long grades and on the intersate when semis pass by (i.e how effective is the trailer sway control feature).  I have a camper weighing about 7500 pounds & am considering a f-150 supercrew vs a f-250 & would like to know if the ride/expense/mileage trade-off would be worth going for the f-250/diesel/automatic.

Dbossman;

It is—and it looks like the payload is 1228 pounds for this specific truck, as equipped.

Abctmc; We've towed quite a bit with this truck so far. Kirill used it to tow a Daihatsu, but that isn’t nearly the same weight as a travel trailer. Don’t know if there are specific plans to tow a travel trailer, but we’ll definitely do it if the opportunity arises. Keep your eye on the site, we have more about towing and the f-150 coming soon.
