There are three things I would like to have/change on our Nissan NV200: a better Bluetooth, blind-spot-monitoring side mirrors, and some utility van storage.
After four months behind the wheel, its was apparent our Nissan NV200 has the same horrible Bluetooth microphone that plagued us in the Frontier. It was easy to pair to my iphone for the first time, and I love how the system pairs itself every time I get into the van. But when the van is in motion, the person on the other end of my call has a hard time hearing my complete sentences even when talking at a reasonable tone. Talking loudly only makes it worse. That said, it's a hallow van. Hallow vans tend to have more noise due to the lack of sound-damping interior materials. The only time I can have a normal conversation with the Bluetooth is when the van is parked.
Why isn't the blind-spot monitoring available for the NV200? Having the Rear Door Glass Package does help with visibility, and the sideview mirrors have small blind-spot mirrors that do a great job in daylight. But side visibility at night can be difficult when trying to judge how much room you have between you and another vehicle during lane changes, especially when all you see are two little glowing dots in a mirror the size of a fun-size Snickers bar. I find myself sitting in one lane most my drive to avoid drivers I can't see.
Those upgraded features wont be happening any time soon, but we get to have a little fun and flexibility by adding some new utility van storage features from Adrian Steel, Cargo Management Solutions for Commercial Vehicles, the official upfitter for the new Nissan NV200 Cargo. We went to Commercial Van Interiors in Whittier, California, which has been upfitting commercial vehicles for nearly 30 years, where we had an ADseries Shelf, wire partition, four-hook bar and grip-lock ladder rack installed for a grand total of $1734.
