The F-117A Nighthawk (aka Stealth Fighter) is an elusive aircraft designed to exploit low-observable stealth technology. Like the Stealth aircraft, the Galpin Motors Stealth F-150 SuperCrew is shrouded in black, enhanced for better maneuverability, and can help you find the way home with its onboard electronics.

Galpin Ford in North Hills, California, has been "Galpinizing" vehicles since the 1960s. Its latest creation is the Stealth F-150 SuperCrew. Even though we had to borrow a 2003 model from vehicle owner Mark Bernstein to get a look at this mysterious machine, we confirmed that production will continue for 2004.

While the Stealth F-150 doesn't claim to be coated with top-secret, radar-absorbing material, it does come with everything you can think of--decorated in the indistinct hue of black: billet grille, custom front bumper cover (with driving lights), Cervini twin-scoop ram-air hood, SnugTop tonneau, smoked taillights, and a Flowmaster exhaust with black painted tip.

Matching the visual enhancements is a set of 22-inch black-powdercoated MHT wheels wrapped with Pirelli Scorpion Zero 295/30ZR22 tires for a purposefully correct look. Further adding to the form are the Belltech suspension mods Galpin installed to not only lower the vehicle and raise its handling capabilities, but also to enhance its boulevard prowess.

And while the F-117A has a variety of weapons at its disposal and is equipped with sophisticated navigation and state-of-the-art digital avionics, the Stealth F-150 is not without its own array of battle-tested electronic wizardry. An in-dash DVD entertainment system, with 6.5-inch flip screen and upgraded speakers, is available, as is a rear-facing back-up camera and navigational assistance.

With the Nighthawk, you get seating for one, while the Galpin Stealth can accommodate six, cloaked in black leather seats, black suede headliner, and black plush carpeting as well as every piece of switchgear painted--you guessed it--black.

While this $49,996 vehicle may not be what some would consider a personal performance pick, it does represent performance on a different level. It offers a package that has an operational theme that's creative, if nothing else. You'll not likely see another one coming down the road. And it's one-stop shopping, so you don't have to build it yourself. Now all it needs is some countermeasures to help your fight on the freeway battleground.
