Fiat Co-developed the original 5.9 Diesel with Cummins. The Fiat version is called the Tector and powers IVECO trucks." Most significantly it offers the 4- and 6-litre Tector range. These are engines developed during the late 1990s under the EEA (European Engine Alliance) joint venture between Fiat and Cummins. The first Tector engines were virtually identical to their Cummins ISB counterparts, differing only in their fuel system electronic controls" .http://www.automotiveworld.com/analysis/commercial-vehicles/74149-fiat-chrysler-alliance-could-threaten-cummins-mid-range-engine-business/

I'll be purchasing this new diesel light duty RAM. Due to the fact that it's dimensions are similar to the Mercedes-Benz Bluetec diesel specifications of previous years.

Dodge inline 6 has had plenty of hp and torque. I tow 11000 pounds with mine and it has 700000 miles on it. Still runs like a champ

its a diesel truck, torque is what matters, who buys a truck with a stupid v6!!!!!????..... that needs turbo to go forward....no good

I'd buy it but not for $53,000, maybe more like $35,000-$40,000

Truck trend to bad dodge did not install a in line 6 diesel instead of a v6 diesel this motor probably will not last it definitely will not hold up like the Cummins does.

Hello all my Dodge. Ram friends I have a problem my 2002 dodge ram sports rear end blew out last week and I can't seam to find one anyplace under $1200 all I need is the rear diff and the gears inside of it the axles and everything else is good still I had it worked on a year ago and the shoppe that worked on it won't help me to fix it because they say it was longer than six months so they don't cover it anymore. Well they didn't torque the spline nut the right way and it dropped the drive shaft and sucked the gear into the diff and put it out the bottom of the diff housing and about sent my wife and baby and her sister and her kids over a bank next to the road. Been calling all over and can't find just a diff and the gears cheap as for I lost my job because of Obama Care and I'm. A army vet with. 21 years of service now and can't get any kind of help from the government at all around here .if anyone has or knows where there is a cheap rear diff for a four wheel drive with 9.25 392 gear ratio that could help me out it would be great just private mess me on FB and I'll get back to you as soon as I can thanks everyone and god bless you all

I'm a Ram fan but it will take you hauling and towing a whole lot of nothing to re-coupe your sticker shock expense. Niche market.

I priced out my well equipped outdoorsman with a diesel and it was 47k. If I want to move up to the same in 3/4 ton, it was like 53k.
