As others have said, Ford should have offered the 5.0 as an option like GM and Chrysler offer V8s, especially since the Ecoboost hasn't won any mileage awards (faring worse than GM's 5.3 according to the EPA).  Additionally, to have to think about turbos likely needing service down the road would put me off.  Lastly, unlike GM and Chrysler, Ford has the weakest powertrain warranty among the three domestics, but no worse than Toyota or Nissan.

@lasvegascolonel

Fuel economy hasn't been released for the new Expedition, but the 5.3l has a lot less torque then the Ecoboost and 10 less Hp, and both Hp and torque come it at a lower RPM with the Ecoboost.

@DFreeland @lasvegascolonel Considering the poor mpg the Ecoboost has received in the F150, Taurus, and Explorer Sport (according to EPA and reviews), I'd rather bet on the proven V8s offered by all the other competitors.  Still, as a guy who has had 12 Fords or more in 45 years, I'd consider the Expedition if it had the V8, or if I knew I was only going to drive 12K miles or less a year and trade it in after five years.  Ford has the weakest powertrain warranty among domestics, though it is no worse than Toyota.  I'd say you can't lose on this Expedition if it is a short term proposal; otherwise, with no warranty, it is real gamble with this turbo engine.  I am impressed that you can still get the long wheelbase version which is the size of the cars we used to drive.

Tahoe would kill this crap.. I've seen more of these on the side of the road then anything else.

The Tahoe will kill it with a solid rear axle, and a pushrod engine? Nice story you made up BTW

New? I guess Ford is going for the retro(Again) look on its Expedition.

If it's retro, it's by looks alone. This SUV is much more up to date than the new GM SUV's

Independent Rear Suspension vs Solid axle

LED Headlamps vs Xenon

DOHC engine vs Pushrod eninge.

The facts are the Expedition is faster, tows more, more interior volume, better handling, more powerful and has a third row seat that adults can actually sit in! You can spend $50,000 on a Tahoe and STILL can't fold the seats flat! Let's be real here the Tahoe doesn't look that much different either after all these years. The Expedition has always been a better SUV.

@jthomas7208 - Great comments and well pointed out...I agree with everything you said. To many GM/Mopar Trolls with very little or educated opinions!!!

I agree Vincent Del Pizzo, I couldn't imagine not getting a V8 with this, especially comparednto the v8s going in the new tahoe and denali

The EB3.5, outperforms GM's big mills hands down and mileage. Nothing missing there and a great Power Train

I like it, like its improvements, but I'd like to see how it drives with its new engine... don't agree with Ford and Lincoln putting a V6 in a fullsize SUV like this... it's the only one of its breed

I wish they would have offered the 5.0 with upped HP/Trq from the F150 but...the EB3.5 I've driven a 1000 times and its a great package, out pulls the big V8's hands down.

I agree for the most part, but what's interesting is that it still looks fresh and relevant... not outdated.

Yes, and the long wheelbased-version is as big or bigger than U.S. cars used to be.  But this gets better gas mileage than they did too.

Much better than the Tahoe in my opinion.
