Slotted between the Montero and the Montero Sport, the Mitsubishi Endeavor brings new attitude to Mitsubishi SUVs. Styling continues the Mitsubishi family resemblance with a strong beltline and brawny fender flares. This Endeavor is a civilized sport/ute that's just as comfortable on the open highway as it is blazing a trail through fresh-fallen snow to reach your favorite ski slope.

The Endeavor is available in either front- or all-wheel drive in three trim levels. The Base LS offers plenty of standard features for its estimated starting price of $25,000. The mid-level is the XLS with the Limited taking top honors adding leather seats, cold-weather package, ABS, and more standard equipment at an estimated $35,000 MSRP.

The Endeavor is powered by an all-new 3.8-liter V-6 producing 215 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque. Though we think Mitsubishi has skimped on the power as of late, this new engine gives the Endeavor good acceleration and pulling power with a 3500-pound towing capacity.

We tossed the Endeavor along the mountain roads near Santa Barbara, California, and on roads that allowed the front strut and rear multilink suspension to show its abilities. We even gave the all-wheel-drive system a workout as we tried to get ourselves stuck in the sand just off the surf line of the Pacific Ocean.

With many buyers wanting their vehicle to project a rugged attitude without sacrificing the comfort and convenience they desire. Mitsubishi seems to have hit its target with the Endeavor and given drivers what they've been yearning for.
