First Look: 2010 Range Rover

Styling has been redone inside and out, with subtle changes to the front end that make it look cleaner and also make it more aerodynamic. Foglights have been moved below the bumper and there are now three-bar side vents and turn indicators. The cabin receives its share of new technology, in addition to new seats, new leather (now also available on the headliner), upgraded lighting, and new wood hues. New for 2010 and not offered in any other SUV, the gauge cluster is now entirely made up of a TFT screen -- there are no actual gauges here. Between the virtual tachometer and speedometer is a customizable driver information center. When driving off-road, the speedometer shifts to the right (odds are you won't be driving over 100 mph off-road), and the space created with this move provides more space for detailed information while on the trail.

One of the coolest new items shown in the cabin may not come to the U.S. -- but we certainly hope it does. We were given the opportunity to preview a dual view screen in the center stack. This serves as the nav system's screen, but simultaneously can display a movie to passengers. We think there may have to be some changes to safety regulations before it can come to America, and the view may not be ideal from the middle seat in the second row (what would they see? The nav or the movie?), but this is an innovative design that should be made available here.

The new Range Rover continues the vehicle's heritage of off-road prowess and ritzy cabin, and while pricing has not yet been announced, you know it won't be cheap. However, you can expect it won't be too much more expensive than the outgoing model and, as good as it was, now has a lot more to offer than it ever has before.

Make a Range Rover a seven passenger seat as an optional package for those who really like the vehicle and needs extra seats for family.
