Now that we've seen and driven the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, it's time for their SUV cousins to take the stage. We got these spy shots of the 2015 GMC Yukon, Yukon XL Denali, and Chevrolet Tahoe out testing. They’re expected to follow the pickups to the showrooms in a few months. Despite the oval-shaped medallion in the center of the grille, there's no mistaking these testers for anything out of Dearborn.

We've figured all along that the U.S.-spec version of the Chevrolet Colorado (which may have a different name) along with its GMC twin would differ from the global Colorado. Now, we're getting an indication of what those changes will likely be. While the global model has a swept-back, almost car-like nose, it appears that the U.S.-spec model will have a more upright grille -- though the headlamps have somewhat of a back-swept, tapered look, even taking into account the placeholder black-plastic sealed beam units used for testing. Overall, the front-end look appears similar to that of the current GMT-900 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV.

It looks like a high-lux version of the Chevy Silverado will join the GMC Denali at the upper end of the Chevrolet's light-duty pickup truck model range. The new truck is rumored to be called the Silverado High Country. We saw it as it was being tested amid a convoy of next-generation GMC Denali prototypes. This tweaked, polished Silverado seems to have Chevy's version of the Denali treatment. From what we can tell, the Silverado gets a new front fascia -- seen behind the front-end camouflage -- with a reworked grille and headlight arrangement. Big chrome wheels are prominent, while a new mountainous badge (taped over here) sits above the Silverado side badge. We expect the new high-zoot Silverado to get the same upscale treatment we've seen in prior Denali models.

If the Volkswagen CrossBlue concept seen earlier this year at the 2013 Detroit auto show will be the Passat SUV, the new CrossBlue Coupe unveiled in Shanghai is its CC equivalent. With a slightly shorter length, a "faster" backlight, more performance-oriented powertrain, and just two rows of seats, the CrossBlue Coupe is the sport to the regular CrossBlue's utility. Yet again, the Germans are annoyingly appending the "Coupe" designation to a four-door vehicle, but we've become so accustomed to its use now, we've learned to live with it.

It seems the world has gone crossover crazy, with the amorphous SUV/wagon variants popping up everywhere, and comprising an ever larger slice of the sales pie for many manufacturers, especially luxury brands. The latest is the Mercedes-Benz Concept GLA, which is being unveiled in Shanghai, a tamer variation of which is likely to show up in Mercedes showrooms around the world in the not-too-distant future.

Now that the initial buzz over General Motors' new 2014 full-size pickups has subsided somewhat, attention is now being focused on the next-generation full-size SUVs. Like their GMT-900 predecessors, the new "K2" family of SUVs is expected to remain body-on-frame and live rear axle. But that tried-and-true formula doesn't seem to have hurt their popularity.

BMW has never signed onto the traditional SUV concept. The company doesn't even call its vehicles SUVs -- it refers to the X5, X3, and X1 as Sports Activity Vehicles. It blurred the lines further with the X6, dubbed a Sports Activity Coupe.

Porsche just announced some major changes for the 2014 Panamera sedan, including replacing the naturally aspirated 4.8-liter V-8 on the S models with a new twin-turbo 3.0-liter V-6, good for a plenty-potent 420 hp and 384 lb-ft of torque, so other than the lustful throb of a V-8, those extra cylinders are not likely to be missed. Since the Panamera and Cayenne share much of their hardware, it appears Porsche's benchmark SUV may also get the hardware changes made on its sedan cousin.

While Ford's F-150 was receiving major updates seemingly every other year, the Blue Oval's full-size SUVs, the Lincoln Navigator and Ford Expedition, continued to languish largely unchanged since their last major redesign for the 2007 model year. Well, after many years of neglect, the big SUVs are finally getting some attention.

News and rumors about product lineups, models, and strategy changes sometimes come so quickly out of Auburn Hills, it's hard to keep up. The prevailing belief, now that the three main Chrysler brands are under one roof in most dealerships, is that Jeep would be SUVs, Dodge would be "exciting" cars, and Chrysler would be more luxurious, premium cars. Widely believed to be a part of that plan was the migration of the Dodge Durango to the Jeep lineup in the form of a revived Grand Wagoneer.

With the introduction of the 2014 Ford Transit, and the introduction of the new 2014 Ram ProMaster, an Americanized version of the popular Fiat Ducato to the U.S. market, Mercedes-Benz is starting to feel the heat to update its commercial standard-bearer, the Sprinter van. In an unusual twist, the company itself is releasing photos of a camouflaged next-gen Sprinter prototype demonstrating its new safety features.

If you were born during or before the Reagan administration, you might remember the Mitsubishi Mighty Max, a no-frills, basic small pickup that was a peer to offerings by Toyota, Nissan, and was even sold as a rebadged Dodge for a few years. Mitsubishi has been out of the pickup business in the U.S. since the mid-'90s, but has continued to sell pickups in overseas markets, the most recent model being the sleek L200/Triton pickup, which is built in Thailand and exported to 140 other markets worldwide. Taking a closer look at the specs of the GR-HEV Concept, it's clear Mitsubishi's latest diesel-hybrid concept shares at least some of its DNA with its emerging-market cousin.

This is the latest look at a prototype for Chevrolet's next-generation Silverado HD Crew Cab Chassis Cab. The Chassis Cab, and the rest of revamped HD lineup, will incorporate the changes recently unveiled on the standard-duty Silverados. Additional focus has reportedly been put on fuel economy, while the manufacturer aims to add more power, to stand toe to toe with the latest heavy duty offerings from Ford and Ram. Although the Silverado 1500 has officially been revealed, HD prototypes continue to have their interiors thoroughly covered. That would seem to point to some interior changes.

The official word from Ford on its North American truck strategy since the discontinuation of the compact Ranger after the 2011 model year is that it would be all F-Series. Most interpreted that to be F-150 to Super Duty. It didn't look like there was any room for the critically acclaimed T6 global Ranger. Ford claimed it was too close to the F-150 and size and pricing to justify it as a separate model. But the prospect of a sub-F-150 Ford truck may not be totally off the table for North America after all, if these spy photos are any indication.

Land Rover has lately been making a name for itself with its stylish Range Rover models, the compact Evoque, the flagship full-size model, and a restyled Sport variant right around the corner. In contrast, many of the other models in the lineup suddenly look positively dated and bland in comparison. Chief among them is the nondescript LR2, sold in overseas markets as the Freelander, a name used in the U.S. market until an alphanumeric naming scheme was adopted starting with the LR3 in 2005.

Mercedes-Benz is known for its sophistication and engineering in its passenger cars and SUVs, and is well-known among commercial customers for the same attributes, being one of the leaders in innovation in the heavy truck segment. Following the introduction of new styles of its Actros, Antos, and Arocs trucks, Mercedes-Benz is giving a sneak peek at its redesigned Atego model that will be unveiled in May at the Birmingham Commercial Vehicle Show.

As soon as the wedgy Range Rover Evoque debuted in 2011, speculation started running rampant as to how much the new compact model would influence other models in the line. While the 2013 Range Rover certainly shows some Evoque influences, its overall shape and style remain decidedly conservative, adhering as much to its predecessor's style as to its new little brother's. But the Range Rover Sport, designed to appeal to a younger, more aggressive customer, had a little more latitude in adopting a bolder style, and based on these latest spy shots, it appears the new Range Rover Sport will have a closer resemblance to the Evoque than its larger, more formal sibling.

Few brands in recent memory have pushed up-market as relentlessly as Kia. While the 2011 Optima was a huge improvement in style and sophistication over its forgettable predecessor, it was a mere glimpse of what was to come. Now with the Cadenza and Quoris headed towards showrooms, and the 2014 Sorento cresting $40,000 in top trim, Kia is not the least bit shy about positioning itself in higher-priced segments. The Cross GT concept shown at the 2013 Chicago Auto Show is the latest example of the brand's push into the premium realm.

A few days ago, Toyota announced the 2014 Tundra would be shown at the 2013 Chicago Auto Show. The full-size truck segment is again abuzz with activity following the reveal of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and the Ford Atlas Concept at the Detroit show, previewing what many believe will be the 2015 Ford F-150.

With each passing month, the camouflage on the successor to the dated Jeep Liberty gets thinner and thinner. What started as an awkwardly-cobbled mule loosely based on an Alfa Romeo Giulietta has now morphed into what's looking more and more like a production-ready vehicle.

Once again, we've got shots of the upcoming Porsche Macan compact SUV undergoing cold-weather testing almost completely un-cladded, indicating its official introduction is imminent. Like the Range Rover Evoque, the Macan has a faster roofline and rear hatch slope than its bigger sibling -- in the case of the Macan, that's the Cayenne -- but otherwise shows a strong family resemblance, with the traditional Porsche ovoid headlamp clusters and sloping hood.

Truck headlines recently have been focused on the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra as well as the Ford Atlas concept that previews the 2015 F-150. With the Detroit Auto Show in the rear-view mirror, we get another look at GM's other upcoming truck, the midsize 2014 Chevrolet Colorado.

Despite its age, the Acura MDX continues to be the luxury brand's most valuable player, ruling the sales chart year after year. With so much riding on the seven-passenger SUV (especially with the Infiniti JX gunning for it) Acura must keep the MDX feeling fresh. The 2014 Acura MDX Prototype debuting at the 2013 Detroit auto show demonstrates how the automaker plans to keep the third-gen MDX as successful as the first two generations.

Ford hard been pretty secretive about its plans for the Detroit show. Officially, it's only major debut for the show was the new full-size 2014 Transit van, which will replace the venerable E-Series when it goes on sale. One look at the Ford display though, which not only had quite a few 2013 F-150s, but also an early F-100, and you just knew something was up. Our hunch proved correct: we've just gotten our First Look at the next-generation 2015 Ford F-150 via the Ford Atlas Concept.

Honda unveiled an urban SUV concept at the 2013 Detroit auto show today, offering a sneak peek at a new small SUV production car that's scheduled to come to the U.S. in 2014 after it launches in Japan. From what we can tell so far, the Nissan Juke had better start worrying.
