2016 Truck Trend Pickup Truck of the Year Day Three
Life’s a Beach
Towing, payload and instrumented testing all completed, the third day of the 2016 Pickup Truck of the Year test was stereotypical California. Just hanging out at the beach. Well, at least for ace staff shooter Robert Guio. The rest of the Truck Trend staff shuttled vehicles back and forth from the nearby El Segundo headquarters. The day culminated with measuring, tire-kicking, and comparing notes among the editors and judges, making note of the details of each truck, including ground clearance, step-in height, and unique features.
Video editor Shaun Ochsner also got B-roll on the trucks, and recorded segments explaining the day’s and the week’s events from Truck Trend magazine Editor-in-Chief Jason Gonderman. Your’s truly did a walkaround on the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado High Country, pointing out the styling, powertrain and detail changes, including the articulating running board that doubles as a bed side step (stay tuned to TruckTrend.com for video!)
Tomorrow, the PTOTY 2016 judges head out to the high desert of California for some off-road testing, and some highway driving to test the trucks’ fuel economy, which is of special interest this year with the trio of diesel models as part of the test. Enjoy the highlights of day three, and be sure to check out our day one and day two coverage!
