Brooklyn, MI (Sports Network) - Mike Skinner edged Jack Sprague by the
smallest of margins - 0.001 seconds to win the pole for this afternoon's Cool
City Custom's 200 Craftsman Truck Series race. The No.5 Toyota Tundra circled
the two-mile oval in 41.156 seconds (174.944 m.p.h.).
The pole victory was Skinner's second of the year and record 45th of his
career.
Sprague will start on Skinner's outside after a best lap of 41.157 seconds.
Todd Bodine (41.158) and Chad McCumbee (41.200) will make up row two. Points
leader Ron Hornaday Jr. will start ninth in the 34-truck field.
After a great race in Texas where Hornaday Jr. held off Kyle Busch for the
victory, the 2007 Craftsman Truck Series champion returned to the top of the
standings.
The No.33 Kevin Harvick Inc. Chevrolet driver's win along with a weak finish
from then points leader Rick Crawford (21st) leaves Hornaday Jr. with a 45-
point lead heading to Michigan.
But the truck series is not just a two-man race. There are six drivers within
100 points of Hornaday Jr. Matt Crafton is second, with Johnny Benson (-55),
Bodine (-65), Sprague (-71), Crawford (-71) and Skinner (-100). Between those
six drivers are five Craftsman championships
Saturday's event is set to drop the green flag at 4 p.m. (et).
