Huntersville, NC (Sports Network) - Joe Gibbs Racing named 18-year-old Joey
Logano as driver of the No.20 Toyota in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series in 2009.
Logano will replace Tony Stewart, who is leaving JGR at the end of the season
to serve as driver and co-owner of Stewart-Haas Racing.
"I just feel fortunate to have the opportunity to be in this position," Logano
said. "Joe Gibbs Racing has provided me tremendous support each step of the
way and the opportunity to work with the absolute best in the business. I
can't explain the feeling to become a part of such an awesome Home Depot team,
and I'm going to just focus on working as hard as I can to prepare for next
season."
Crew chief Greg Zipadelli and primary sponsor Home Depot will remain with the
No.20 team.
Logano will make his Sprint Cup debut September 6th at Richmond, driving a
fourth entry for JGR.
Logano became the youngest driver to win a Nationwide Series race in June at
Kentucky. His first win came in just his third start. He made his series debut
in May at Dover.
