Martinsville, VA (Sports Network) - Mike Skinner captured the pole for
Saturday's Kroger 200 Camping World Truck Series race after posting the
fastest lap in qualifying at Martinsville Speedway.
Skinner, a three-time race winner at Martinsville, lapped the 0.526-mile track
at 95.733 m.p.h. (19.780 seconds) for his third pole of the season and the
50th of his career, extending his record for most poles in the series.
Ron Hornaday, Jr. qualified 0.024 seconds behind Skinner to grab the outside
pole. Hornaday currently holds a 197-point lead with five races remaining in
the season.
Sprint Cup regulars Kevin Harvick and Denny Hamlin will start third and
fourth, respectively. Harvick won the spring race here in March.
Brian Scott will roll off fifth.
Stacy Compton qualified sixth, followed by Rick Crawford, Todd Bodine, Johnny
Sauter and Tayler Malsam.
Tim Bainey, Jr., Chris Lafferty and Dan Brode failed to qualify.
Saturday's 200-lap race is scheduled to begin around 1:00 p.m. (et).
